A woman is still grieving for her beloved dog who has been missing for a year after her landlord stole him because he violated the terms of her lease.

Linnea Sandlin, from Wisconsin, lost her pooch Simon after her landlords, Susan Haas, 64, and her sister Sarah Engeseth, 62, stole him from her dog sitter's house.

The women took rat terrier Simon, and clamied they wuld try to drop him off at a pet shelter however he managed to escape and hasn't been seen since.

The sisters were found guilty of Intentional Dognapping, which is a misdemeanor in the state but faced no jail time.

‘Simon, he was like my child, I miss him and love him so much. He never can be replaced': Linnea said to the Dane County court, according to WKOW.

The landlords were only required to attend a first offender program.

Susan and Sarah gained possession of the pooch after they showed up at John Isaacson's workplace, who was dog sitting for Linnea at the time.

The dog was staying with John because Linnea was aware that Simon wasn't allowed at her rental property.

John said the woman showed him an attorney's letter that claimed they had the authority to bring the dog to a shelter.

Susan decided to bring the dog to the local Dane County Humane Society but Simon instead jumped out the back of her SUV and ran off

He reluctantly complied and handed Simon over, a decision he says he has regretted since.

Susan said she would bring the dog to the local Dane County Humane Society but Simon instead jumped out the back of her SUV and ran off.

The Dane County District Attorney's office charged both Haas and Engelseth with felony party to a theft back in December.

However a month later, Assistant District Attorney Paul Humphrey announced the charges would be reduced to misdemeanors.

According to The New York Post Susan said: ‘I feel the punishment against them is wrong, It went from a felony to a misdemeanor and now it's probably going to be nothing at all in the end.'

‘I often wonder where the justice is in this, I will always be the victim.'
