DECATUR, Ill. — Macon County 4-H is looking for all canine companions and their human friends to join the new 4-H dog club. The Macon County 4-H dog club will offer young people and their furry friends a chance to learn, grow, and bond through the joy of dog ownership.
The first club meeting will be from 6 to 7 p.m. on Jan. 22 at Northgate Pet Clinic, 2800 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr, Decatur. Kids ages 8 to 18 may participate in the club. The first meeting is for humans only. No four-legged friends should attend, but please bring shot records and size for a collar.
“A 4-H dog club will be an amazing opportunity for our community,” says 4-H Program Coordinator Anne Reinbold. “The club is going to focus on obedience training with Kim Schwalbach as their club leader, and Kim is dedicated to making sure our community and youth are informed on all things, dog.”
There is a $20 4-H membership fee required to participate, and members do not need to live in Macon County. Fee waivers are available. Please register by Jan. 19 at go.illinois.edu/DMPDogClub.
