COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – The city will be cutting the ribbon on a “paw-some” new park for your furry friends in downtown Colorado Springs next week.
Antlers Dog Park will open to the public on Thursday, May 16. Located in Antlers Park, near Pikes Peak and South Sierra Madre behind the historic hotel, the new dog park will have two separate play areas — one for small dogs and another for larger dogs — and features a large fence with double gates, synthetic turf, a sitting area, play amenities and a dog water station.
City officials also said the park is ADA compliant and “provides a safe and fun environment for all abilities.”
“By making the dog park accessible to individuals with disabilities, we are creating a more inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone,” Tim Hartong, City of Colorado Springs accessibility projects manager, said. “This new amenity benefits the community by providing a space where pet owners of all abilities can come together, socialize and enjoy the outdoors with their beloved companions.”
Thursday’s ribbon cutting is free and open to the public. Dogs must be leashed unless inside the dog park’s fencing.
