Readers who are searching for dog grooming services, look no further. Snip N Dash is a new mobile business in town that offers dog grooming. It is owned by Marissa Biggs. Biggs has been living in Slave Lake for all her life, she says. Her introduction to dog grooming began with her own dogs at home where she groomed them herself.

In October of 2024, Biggs realized that she needed to do something she was passionate about, after working for Falcon Rentals. She went to school for dog grooming in January of 2025, and that’s where it all started for her.

“I just thought about it, and dog grooming was what drove me,” says Biggs.

What made her pursue dog grooming as a full-time career? Well, it’s simple. Her friend from Lethbridge became one and it inspired her. Biggs is a full-time dog groomer and does it Monday to Saturday.

“I need to do this,” she says.

As for dog groomers in Slave Lake, there aren’t many in the area. There was one in Slave Lake before Biggs became one, and there is a dog groomer in Smith, she says. Snip N Dash is mobile, which means she can groom the dogs in the back in her van, anywhere.

“We have so many rural communities that need that service,” says Biggs.

Biggs has learned a lot of breed standard cuts, regular pet cuts, and customized cuts. Her speciality is dogs that are anxious, and older dogs with disabilities.

“I have a very calming, patient personality,” says Biggs.

“It’s just the energy that you have that the dog can sense your energy.”

Biggs offers full grooming services, which include – bath, blow-dry, nails, ear cleaning and anal gland expression.

Asked what experience she has with all the different dog breeds, she says, “I have quite a bit of experience with a wide variety of dogs.” The size of her van allows her to groom large dogs, which include a soft-coated Wheaton terrier. These dogs are rambunctious, she says.

“They’re a terrier, so all terriers, they’re bred for hunting. And they’re just very wound up, very energetic, can’t sit still. The Wheaton terrier breed standard cut is a very hard one to do,” says Biggs.

The time it takes to groom a dog varies from one hour to two hours for Biggs.

“That time should go down with more experience,” she says.

As for pricing, Biggs has a full groom package. The cost is dependent on the breed of the dog.

She cannot price large, medium and small dogs and for good reason; it wouldn’t be fair to people as many dogs are different. “They all have different hair,” she says.

“I can’t charge the same for a German shepherd as I would a lab.”

To book an appointment or get more information on Snip N Dash, you can visit her website at snipndash.com. You can also reach Biggs via email at snipndash@outlook.com or call 780-805-6690. She also has a Facebook page, it is called Snip’n Dash.

Snip N Dash has a mobile unit, that allows services for rural communities. Everything to groom a dog is inside the van.
