New pet grooming salon comes to Princeton | Uncategorized

After opening Waggy Tails Pet Salon this summer, Amanda Knox is thrilled she made the leap into launching her own business. The pet salon, located in Princeton, Ky just had a ribbon cutting recently, where the community welcomed her with open arms. She felt that this was a chance to give her children and herself a better future. The new pet salon is located at 111 W Court Square, Princeton.

This is not only just a job for Knox, however. She truly enjoys spending her days spoiling her furry clients, spending time with young puppies and senior dogs as well. She grooms all breeds and sizes of dogs, offering bathing, painting nails, doing haircuts, de-shedding, gland expression, nail trims, nail filing and even ear cleaning. Knox is utilizing experience from her previous job, having been the manager in Hopkinsville, at The Pet Lodge. Her aunt owned it and taught Knox how to run the business successfully.

Currently, she has clientele driving to her facility from multiple communities outside of Princeton, such as Madisonville, Cadiz, Eddyville, and even Hanson, Ky. She prides herself in her handling of each dog and calming its nerves beforehand, which is imperative when grooming bigger breeds.

“Grooming is not always a dog’s favorite thing, but I try to make each dog as comfortable as possible while I have them in my care,” Knox said. “Whether that is spending extra time with them after, or before grooming. I’ll let them run around the salon and explore. I don’t believe any dog is bad, they just get nervous.”

Knox said that community support has been substantial in helping her new business grow. Knox told the Times Leader that she loves the small town of Princeton and that the locals are always supportive, especially fellow business owners.

“My family has been my biggest support team and I am so grateful for having them,” Knox said. “My motto is ‘bring em’ shaggy, take em’ waggy.’ I love giving them a brand-new makeover. My most rewarding compliment I’ve received is that this is the best their dogs have ever looked. I take pride in what I do and always try to do my best with each dog.”

Waggy Tails Pet Salon is open from Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. up until her last customer leaves. Dogs must be brought in by calling or texting (270) 963-5590 and making an appointment beforehand. Knox is very grateful for her frequent customers and is excited to accept new ones.
