New pet store Your PetJesty opens in Maidenhead town centre – Photo 1 of 5

A new pet store offering a unique and alterative range of products for visitors' furry friends has opened in Maidenhead town centre.

Your PetJesty, co-owned by husband-and-wife duo and Maidenhead residents Ari and Dannie Bozhani opened its doors at 109 Queen Street for a soft launch in the first week of January.

The new independent boutique pet store is the company’s first and looks to offer residents and visitors pet supplements and alternative pet accessories that cannot be found in larger chain stores.

Ari said: “We've gone for more of a different approach where we've chosen cool, quirky, niche accessories, toys that can be alongside our supplement brand and pet treats.”

A UK start-up, the business is aiming to spread brand awareness for the store and the pet supplements it is developing after launching its first product, a Vegan Omega 3 Pet Oil (an alternative to the traditional fish oil) in the USA in October 2023.

Ari explained that a small stock of the oil is available at the Maidenhead store, and the pair are looking to launch the product online on Amazon UK in March.

“Our first product is an alternative for cats and dogs because many, many cat and dog owners already supplement their food with fish oil, so we're giving them an alternative.

“It's actually a pretty big market. There is a lot of pet owners in the UK, US and abroad that supplement with fish oil. They just don't have a vegan alternative that offers the same benefits really” he added.

As well as the supplements, a line of premium quality leather collars and leads has also been developed.

The store also offers up a host of other pet treats including dog bowls, coats and snacks, and on the quirkier side – Venison Jerky.

The company looks to enhance pet health through natural, eco-friendly ways, Ari explained.

The unique store name is thanks to a play on words on Your Majesty and symbolises that pets are now ‘treated like royalty in their homes’, Ari added.

The pair moved from London to Maidenhead in 2018 and are ‘really excited’ about the location of the new store and the regeneration that is taking place in the town.

Reflecting on the business since the store opened, Ari said: “I think it's gone well. I think the feedback so far has been positive.

“People are more curious coming in and I think slightly shocked as well that there is a new pet store because I think you don't see many niche or small pet stores around any more.”

The store is currently open from 9am to 5pm on the weekdays and from 12pm to 3pm at weekends.

Ari explained that work is still ongoing and the website, which is currently being worked on, should be fully complete by March.

In the future, the pair are hoping to expand and launch a line of cat vitamins and dog treat vitamins.
