Nicole Richie Reflects on Prince Gifting Her First Dog

Nicole Richie, known for her love of animals, recently reminisced about the moment rock legend Prince gifted her with her very first dog. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 42-year-old actress shared the heartwarming story and revealed the special name Prince bestowed upon the furry companion.

Recalling her childhood affinity for animals, Nicole discussed her diverse array of pets, including a new addition to her family, a cat named Lavender Bumblebee. She also candidly admitted to her past mischiefs, including smuggling ferrets into California from Nevada during her youth.

However, it was Prince who kickstarted Nicole’s lifelong love for dogs. She fondly recounted how the “Purple Rain” icon presented her with her inaugural canine companion. With a chuckle, Nicole revealed that the dog’s name was “God,” a humorous detail that she attributed to her youthfulness at the time.

Since then, Nicole’s passion for animals has only grown. Alongside her husband, Joel Madden, she cares for numerous pets, including German Shepherds, chickens, and even a bearded dragon, as documented on her Instagram page. In a humorous post from 2021, she playfully portrayed the challenges of being a “working mom” while sharing a photo of her reptile climbing up her collar.

Beyond their furry and scaly friends, Nicole and Joel are proud parents to their two children, Harlow and Sparrow. Despite their efforts to maintain privacy, the family recently made a public appearance together at the premiere of Nicole’s new film, Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead.

Excitement is also brewing in the Richie family, as Lionel Richie’s younger daughter, Sofia Richie Grainge, is expecting her first child. Nicole, now a first-time aunt on her own side of the family, expressed her overwhelming joy at the prospect of welcoming a new addition. Alongside her father, Lionel, Nicole eagerly awaits the arrival of the newest member of their family, sharing their excitement over becoming “Pop-pop” and “Auntie” respectively.

With a growing family and an unwavering passion for animals, Nicole Richie continues to embrace life’s blessings and cherishes the moments that have shaped her journey.
