Nieci’s Green Bites Pet Boutique is not what most would consider a typical pet store.
The store has specific sections for organic dog treats, doggie outfits, soaps and everything for all pets.
“It’s a one-stop shop for the Augusta area,” said Nieci Pryor, owner and founder of the store.
Nieci’s Green Bites Pet Boutique, which is located at 908 Broad St. in Augusta, also offers grooming and boarding services.
Pryor said the new store is a combination of her dog treat business into a space that offers more items than just pet treats.
The store will also sell cat and horse treats. The store also has a space for cats called a Kitty Corner.
The store will also sell specialty items such as pizza, cakes, kibble, dog accessories, leashes, clothing, beds, toys and pet supplements.
The store will have a kitchen so Pryor can make her treats that are USDA-certified. Pryor said she named her business because Nieci is her name, Green is for organic food and Bites is for treats.
“I wanted something very unique and I wanted a boutique kind of look because most stores look like pet stores and I wanted something a little bit different,” she said. “I am really proud of this part.”
Pryor said the business is pretty unique since there isn't one downtown. She said the store will offer pet owners to do things all at once like getting clothing and a grooming service.
“I think it's great for Augusta because there is nothing here,” she said.
Pryor said the idea to have and make organic dog treats for pets began in March 2016 when she was dealing with back pain and she needed something to do. Pryor said she was put on different anti-inflammatory and pain pills that caused her to sleep and eat, but she still felt bad. She said one of her daughters encouraged her to eat healthier which would help with her coming off the medication and the way that she was feeling.
