A dog owner who was viciously attacked by her Rottweiler has been given an ultimatum: sort your dog out or the council will put it down.

Nikita Piil, 31, was rushed to Perth Royal Hospital on September 16 after being mauled by both her two pet Rottweilers at her home in Success, South Perth.

Ms Piil suffered serious injuries and ‘almost lost' her life from bacterial infections as a result of the numerous bites she sustained.

She has undergone five surgeries to save both her arm and her life.

Her family revealed in a GoFundMe post that Ms Piil had ‘gotten caught in a crossfire' while trying to calm down her dogs during a neighbourhood incident.

Seven-year-old Bronx was shot by police after first being Tasered.

Bronx was later put down by a vet while the younger dog, Harlem, was taken to a pound.

After a month-long investigation the City of Cockburn declared Harlem ‘dangerous' and gave Ms Piil until Saturday to put down her pet before they intervene.

The owner of two Rottweilers, Nikita Piil (pictured), has been given the choice to euthanise one of her pets after the other was shot and euthanised when both animals attacked her in September

Michael Emery, head of community safety and ranger services for the City of Cockburn, said Harlem still remains at the pound.

‘Ms Piil, or her delegate, has until Saturday to comply with the State’s keeping of dangerous dog requirements,' he told The West Australian.

‘If Ms Piil cannot comply, the City will have no option but to euthanise the dog, following any appeal period.'

Mr Emery revealed that Harlem can still dodge euthanasia if Ms Piil is able to follow strict requirements around his handling.

These include keeping him ‘securely enclosed' in an area not easily accessible to children under the age of seven and being muzzled.

Ms Piil, who is understood to still be in hospital, is unlikely to face charges over the incident as a member of the public was not attacked.

The City of Cockburn had previously received complaints from neighbours over the Rottweilers' excessive barking, however there were no reported incidences of attacks prior to September 16.

Daily Mail Australia has approached the City of Cockburn for comment.

In another unfortunate incident involving this breed of dog, the life of a Tasmanian was taken after his Rottweiler turned on him and his wife.

Retiree Noel Backhouse, 66, and his wife Karen ‘Maree' Anderson, 64, were at their home in Allens Rivulet, a small rural community 25km south-west of Hobart, when they were suddenly set upon by their Rottweiler, Ruben, on Sunday night.

A neighbour heard the commotion and called triple zero at about 10.40pm, but despite the best efforts of paramedics Mr Backhouse died at the scene after suffering critical injuries to his lower legs.

Mr Backhouse had just a year earlier put himself in harm's way to protect Ruben from an off-leash Pitbull, suffering bites to his hands and arms.

Ms Anderson, a teacher, also suffered serious injuries to her lower legs and was rushed to Royal Hobart Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.

Daily Mail Australia revealed that just five months prior to the incident, Ms Anderson shared a post suggesting some dog breeds get a bad rap over attacks when it's their owners who should be blamed.

‘In the 70s they blamed the Dobermans. In the 80s they blamed the German Shepherds,' the post reads.

‘In the 90s they blamed Rottweilers. Now they blame the Pitbull.

‘When will they blame the humans?'
