A couple from Nice were given one-year suspended sentences for keeping more than a hundred animals in cruel conditions. The court recognized an apartment with an area of 80 square meters as such. It was in it that the French couple kept 159 cats and seven dogs at once. The couple was also given a fine and an indefinite ban on keeping pets.

Last year, police responded to a call for a loud argument in an apartment in Nice. It was law enforcement officers who discovered more than one and a half hundred animals in a three-room apartment. Some of the cats and dogs subsequently died. It turned out that this is not the first time that the couple has come to the attention of law enforcement officers because of their animals.
It started when a woman took three cats and three dogs from her parents back in 2018. Then she brought 30 more cats, which she discovered in an abandoned house. Subsequently, the “collection” of the spouses grew.
A psychiatric examination diagnosed the woman with Noah syndrome. This is a mental disorder that is characterized by the need to save animals even if they do not need help.
Despite the woman’s mental disorder, the prosecutor’s office demanded from the court at least 18 months of imprisonment for the spouses.
