Three nonprofits are working together to fight animal overpopulation with free sessions offering houseless people spay and neutering services to their pets.
KAPOLEI, Hawaii (Island News) — Three nonprofits worked together to fight animal overpopulation on Oahu in a first of its kind way.
Mission Aloha, Aloha Animal Outreach and Hawaii Dog Foundation are offering free spay and neuter sessions to houseless people with pets.
On Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, a team of four, including a vet tech, helped spay and neuter 13 animals in the Barbers Point area. They plan to go back out on Thursday, Oct. 3.
Donations to these organizations are being accepted for anyone interested in helping the cause.
The latest efforts come as Hawaii shelters are overcrowded and facing a capacity crisis.
