NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – A North Platte family is in need of assistance after their home suffered significant damage from a house fire on Sunday.
The North Platte Fire Department was dispatched to a fire at a home near W 18th Street and North Buffalo Bill Avenue just before 1 p.m. and had it under control in 20 minutes.
The fire department said the family was not home at the time. However, they lost their three cats and dog.
The fire was ruled accidental. It’s believed the family dog turned the knobs on the gas stove which caused the fire, according to the fire department.
Fire officials remind homeowners to always clear their stove tops.
In the meantime, donations for the family of four can be dropped off at 3366 Parker Rd. A GoFundMe is also set up for the family.
