As a member of the Board of Directors of Nuzzles & Co, I am honored to play a part in rescuing cats and dogs and finding these animals their forever home. Since Nuzzles’ founding in 1990, our team of dedicated staff, community volunteers, and board members have saved more than 27,000 animals, many rescued from dire circumstances. And we completed more than 3,200 spay and neuter surgeries this year to reduce pet overpopulation.
I first became involved with Nuzzles as a foster for animals recovering from surgery. These dogs and cats, who had endured great trauma, amazed me with their unconditional love and resilience. I then began to know the Nuzzles staff and became moved by their commitment to helping animals in our community. I am astounded by the tenacity and dedication of this small team and the large impact they have made in the lives of vulnerable animals and our community.
Nuzzles believes that by helping animals, we help people—and we strive to create programs with this philosophy in mind. For example, through Nuzzles’ Purple Paw program, which grants free pet boarding to victims of domestic violence, survivors can move to safety with the assurance that their beloved pets are also safe as 50% of survivors will not leave their pets behind. Since opening our doors, Nuzzles has provided greater than 25,000 free boarding days for the pets of these survivors to enable them to flee terrible situations. Our Reservation Rescue Program, initiated in 2015, addresses health barriers by supporting the Navajo Nation through low-cost veterinary services and needed medicines.
Our mission is simple: We bring hope to animals and joy to the people who love them through animal rescue, rehabilitation, preventative spay / neuter services, and community engagement that builds a more compassionate world.
Live PC Give PC has been a critical part of achieving this mission. Through the generous donations from the Park City community, Nuzzles & Co. has been successfully saving animals like Dr. Smolder Bravestone, a lovable pet who lived on a dirt heap outside of Ft. Duchesne. He had facial scarring, a heart murmur and trouble walking from his hard life living on the streets. But thanks to the help of our amazing vet staff, he recovered and was our ambassador to a local Senior Center to support our Seniors for Seniors program, where fees are waived for any senior animal adopted by a senior citizen.
These are a few of the many programs that your donations will support. Any amount helps — $25 provides critical vaccinations for a new rescue and $225 pays for the spay / neuter surgery, shots, and microchip for a lovable dog like Dr Bravestone. With these services covered, a rescue animal is ready to become a cherished pet.
Your donations this week will make a difference now for animals waiting for our help. As part of Live PC Give PC, it is not just the dollars raised that counts. It is also the number of donors who give to a charity, so giving just $10 or more will make an impact.
Thank you for considering donating to Nuzzles & Co. We are touched and humbled by our community and your support of Nuzzles, where love always wins. Thank you.
