The 2nd annual Pet Gala at NYU, which was to be held on May 6, the same day as the Met Gala, was canceled on Friday, the same day 13 protestors were arrested and anĀ encampment dislodged on its campus by the NYPD.
NYU told The Post they havenāt set a new date for the annual event, which is thrown by NYU Faculty Housing Happenings ā but the coutured canines of New York City already have their lavish celebrity-inspired outfits ready to go once its announced.
Seira SorayaāsĀ PomeranianĀ Hey Hey and his offspring Dee Dee ā will dress as Rihanna and Taylor Swift, outfits she sewed herself.
Hey Hey will don a replica of Rihannaās white floral Valentino gown she wore to the Met Gala last year, when she was pregnant and walked the red carpet with her partner A$AP Rocky. Dee Dee will be in a getup inspired by the silk tulle embroidered Elie Saab ballgown Swift wore during an Eras Tour performance in Tampa, Fla.
Soraya, an actress and dancer who lives in Hellās Kitchen, said this isnāt her pupsā first time in the spotlight. When she played a barista in āAnd Just Like That,ā and showed the crew a picture of Hey Hey, the pup was cast in an episode.
She said her fur babies are pros at strutting their stuff on the red carpet.
āThey love it,ā she said. āThey mingle and socialize.ā
Marine Park, Brooklyn resident Dianne Ferrerās pooches, who work as dog models for brands like Amazon, are also dressing like two famous females.
Harley, a French bulldog, will be in an outfit inspired by the one Sarah Jessica Parker wore to the 2015 Met Gala, a red and silver Philip TreacyĀ headpiece and a black dress that the actress designed in collaboration with H&M.Ā
Doodle mix Cassie, will dress as Cher from her 1986 Oscars appearance, when she wore an outfit by designer Bob Mackey, a jeweled bralette with a skirt and jacket, and feathered headdress.
Ferrer, a former art teacher who once worked in the Garment District, also made the costumes herself.
She also works as a photographer, so said her four-legged friends are already ready to pose.
āI am constantly taking pictures of them and they donāt mind getting dressed up and being in front of the camera. Theyāve done commercials, have been on movie sets, so theyāre so used to it,ā she said.
Sunset Park resident Melissa Mercadoās Yorkie Louie will be dressing as James Bond in a suit and sneakers.
āHe actually had worn it for a wedding. A friend of mine, they didnāt have a ring bearer, so they used him,ā she said.
Louie, who is a content creator and collaborates with brands like Petco, is used to getting his picture taken.
āWhen he sees someone with a camera, he starts turning and posing,ā she said.
āHe will stand there and turn left, turn right. And when heās over it, heāll just turn around on the carpet and go to sleep.ā
Gladys Rivera of Midtown West revealed her blue Chihuahua Gia Diamond Sotoās dress, which is inspired by the green Zuhair MuradĀ beaded tulle ensemble Kate Beckinsale wore to the Cannes Film Festival last year.
āI like the color green, itās my color cause Iām a Gemini,ā said Rivera, whose mother, a fashion designer, created the outfit.
āAnd I just like all the bling and the sequence and the whole wraparound gown look, because itās a two-piece, so it looks really elegant.ā
Gia also canāt get enough of getting captured on camera.
