OFD rescues one dog, while another dog and a cat die in fire

One dog was rescued while another dog and a cat were found deceased after an apartment fire in Omaha, according to the Omaha Fire Department.Around 10:12 a.m., firefighters responded to a fire alarm at a two-story apartment building. Crews reported nothing showing on the approach to the building. Residents reported smoke was coming from one of the apartments.Firefighters investigated, discovered large amounts of smoke and declared a working fire. Crews were able to extinguish the flames. They searched the apartment and found multiple pets, rescuing one of the dogs.The Nebraska Humane Society was dispatched for the deceased animals, according to the Omaha Fire Department.Two individuals were displaced by the fire, but no injuries were reported.After investigation, the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental due to an electrical event, according to the Omaha Fire Department.
