TORONTO — Premium, responsibly sourced pet food brand Open Farm expanded its kibble offerings with its new Functional Kibble for Dogs line. The line is designed to offer solutions-based diets, pairing high-quality nutrition with functional benefits to support specific need states in canines.
According to Open Farm, the new Functional Kibble line is veterinarian formulated to help support optimal canine health. It includes three recipes, supporting digestive health, weight management, and skin and coat health. Each recipe aligns with the company’s commitment toward responsible sourcing, which includes using humanely raised and sustainably sourced proteins, traceable ingredients, and non-GMO grains, fruits and vegetables.

Digestive Health Wild Alaskan Pollock & Oatmeal is a “first to market” digestive recipe, according to Open Farm. This kibble is formulated with pre-, pro- and postbiotics to support gut health and maintain stool quality. It also includes Ocean Wise® recommended wild Alaskan pollock, a nutrient-rich and easily digestible protein that is gentle on dog’s stomachs, and essential nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants to promote immune health.
Healthy Weight Chicken & Whitefish is a high-protein, low-calorie formula designed to help support healthy weight. This kibble is formulated with humanely raised chicken and sustainably sourced, wild-caught whitefish to support lean muscle mass and provide Omega 3 fatty acids to maintain joint health and mobility. Additionally, the formula includes a blend of insoluble and soluble fiber to satisfy hunger and L-carnitine to boost the metabolism.
Skin & Coat Health Wild-Caught Salmon & Oatmeal is designed to support skin and a shiny, glossy coat in canines. This kibble is formulated with Ocean Wise® recommended wild-caught salmon as the first ingredient, offering a rich source of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids to support skin and coat health. The recipe also includes DHA and EPZ fatty acids, zinc, vitamin E and biotin to help promote moisture retention in the skin barrier, supporting hydrated skin and hair growth.
All recipes in Open Farm’s Functional Kibble line meet nutritional levels established by the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO). Additionally, the packaging will be recyclable via curbside or in-store drop-off programs as part of the company’s dedication to Zero Waste to Landfill by 2025.
Open Farm’s Functional Kibble line is currently available in 4-lb and 22-lb sizes at neighborhood pet stores throughout North America, as well as via Open Farm’s e-commerce platform.
