Our dogs are 11 stone EACH – we had to buy a new car & move into a new home to fit them in… they’ll get the spare room

A WOMAN who owns two dogs that weigh 11 stone each had to buy a new house and new car to make room for them.

Sanela Becovic, 44, bought two Newfoundland terriers that now weigh a combined 145 kilos.

Sanela, who is 5.6ft tall, is now dwarfed by Leo and Teddy.

Sanela and her husband, Thomas Petterson, 50, later bought a new car so they could fit the dogs in the boot with a special ramp.

Sanela said: “It's basically a minibus that we made into Teddy and Leo's special car, we bought a special mattress and took the seats out.”

After Leo arrived the couple moved to a new flat to accommodate the burly beasts. The bigger flat costs an extra £350 per month.

She added: “It was worth it, I'm planning on turning the extra bedroom into Teddy and Leo's room.”

The dogs now have cult status in the town of Laholm, Sweden, where they live with Sanela.

She explained: “People tell us they look like bears, they ask us ‘what is that, is it a bear'?”

Sanela, a librarian, told how her pets have helped her overcome her fear of dogs.

She said: “I was deathly afraid of dogs, but I was going through a hard time and always wanted a big bear to cuddle.

“It's hard to explain but I wanted one, and Newfoundlands are gentle, cuddly and have lots of hair, he was perfect.”

Sanela is wary of people thinking keeping a Newfoundland terrier is as expensive as she has made it.

She said: “You don't need to put this much money into them, I don't have kids so they are my kids.

“I'm obsessed with them and I spend much more money on them than normal people do.”
