Outrage in Progreso over mass poisoning of dogs

The community of San Ignacio is dismayed after the mass poisoning of several dogs on the morning of Thursday, September 26. Neighbors on 58th Street between 35 and 37 discovered several dogs fainting, victims of a cruel act of poisoning.

Karla Cabrera, a local resident, reported the incident on social networks and also lamented the loss of her pet.

According to witnesses, security cameras captured an individual on a bicycle leaving a bag with poisoned food in the area, intended for stray dogs that usually frequent the area.

The incident generated alarm because of the damage to animals and the risk it poses to children who play on public roads.

Local authorities arrived at the scene to begin an investigation. Neighbors, outraged by the incident, demanded justice and greater security.

The community has organized to monitor and report any suspicious activity that could put animals or residents at risk.

This tragic event has generated debate about animal protection in Yucatán. According to the Animal Protection Law of the State of Yucatán, animal abuse, including poisoning, is classified as a crime and can lead to financial fines and prison sentences of up to three years, depending on the severity of the case.

The authorities have promised to intensify the investigation and urge citizens to report any act of animal abuse. In San Ignacio, they hope for justice, and these atrocious acts are not repeated.
