FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – In 2024, more than 725 animals were adopted during BISSELL Pet Foundation adoption events at Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control (FWACC).
The BISSELL Pet Foundation, a national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending pet homelessness, provides Empty the Shelters™ reduced-fee adoption events at animal shelters nationwide in a call for animal adoption.
In 2024, 736 animals were adopted from FWACC during BISSELL Pet Foundation adoption events including:
- 620 Cats/Kittens
- 90 Dogs/Puppies
- 26 Small Animals/Reptiles
“2024 was an incredibly challenging year for saving lives, as our nation’s shelters continue to take in more pets than they are adopting out. Tens of thousands of shelter pets—of all breeds, ages, and personalities—are desperately in need of homes,” said Cathy Bissell, Founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. “Empty the Shelters – is more than an adoption event; it’s a lifeline for shelter pets.”
“Bissell has been a strong supporter of FWACC and the shelters in our community, we are appreciative of their initiative to increase adoptions and find loving homes for animals in need.” said Director, Amy-Jo Sites.
More than 300,000 pets have found loving homes since the inception of BISSELL Pet Foundation Empty the Shelters adoption events in 2016.
