Owners Couldn’t Handle Deteriorating Dog, So He Hung On For Her

Noodle was found wandering the streets, severely underweight and suffering from a rare degenerative brain disease that causes him to faint and wobble. The vet at the shelter recommended euthanasia, as no one had stepped forward to claim him. However, Tiffany, who has experience in senior hospice care for dogs, decided to take Noodle in and give him a chance at a better life.

Tiffany believes that Noodle was once a loved pet, but his previous owners may have felt burdened by the care he needed. She was prepared to provide him with a hospice environment, even if it was only for a few weeks. To her surprise, Noodle has been with her for over a year now and is doing great.

When Noodle first arrived at Tiffany’s home, he weighed only 60 pounds. With proper care and nutrition, he is now a healthy 85 pounds. Tiffany has made several adjustments to her home to accommodate Noodle’s needs, such as lowering the bed and couch and providing a quiet, dark room for him to feel safe in.

Noodle’s condition has progressed over time, requiring a special harness to support him. Tiffany helps him navigate the stairs by straddling him and carrying some of his weight. Despite his challenges, Noodle is a gentle, loving dog who has never barked since arriving at his new home.

Tiffany and her family have found great comfort in Noodle’s presence, especially after the loss of their previous dog. Noodle’s sweet and kind nature has helped them heal and brought immense joy to their lives.

Tiffany’s experience in hospice care for dogs has taught her that it never gets easier. Still, she believes that the alternative – Noodle never leaving the shelter – would have been even more heartbreaking.
