PACC offers free adoptions and $50 credit to ease dog overcrowding | Local News

PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KVOA) – Pima Animal Care Center is hosting a special St. Patrick's Day weekend event, “Change Their Luck,” from March 14 to March 17. During this period, PACC is offering free adoptions for all pets and a $50 credit at the on-site Central Pet store for those adopting dogs weighing 40 pounds or more.

This initiative comes as the shelter faces critical capacity in its large dog kennels, with over 470 dogs currently housed there. PACC has been receiving approximately 215 dogs weekly since the beginning of 2025.

“At PACC, we have dogs and cats of all shapes, sizes, breeds and colors. With that variety in mind, they all have one thing in common. They’re all looking for a forever home,” said Steve Kozachik, PACC’s director. “Our goal is to work with you to find the perfect fit for your household. Our great adoptions team is looking forward to seeing you and working together to send you home with a new cuddly, furry family member. Stop in and take advantage of our St. Patrick’s special.”

The $50 credit, provided by Friends of Pima Animal Care Center, can be used on various pet supplies for newly adopted dogs.

PACC is located at 4000 N. Silverbell Road. It is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from noon to 7 p.m., Wednesday from 1:30 to 7 p.m., and weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A $20 licensing fee applies to adult dogs living in Pima County. All adopted pets from PACC are microchipped, spayed or neutered, and receive age-appropriate vaccinations. For more information, visit pima.gov/animalcare.
