PACC remains at critical capacity after rescuing 24 dogs from one home | News

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Two dozen dogs were rescued by the Pima Animal Care Center and now the shelter needs your help.

This comes directly after one of PACC's most successful adoption pushes – an adoption drive that was held in partnership with The Humane Society of Southern Arizona.

On Saturday, PACC was able to help find 80 pets homes during this drive, which helped to free up a lot of space in the shelter.

But on Saturday afternoon, the Pima Animal Care Center's Animal Protection Services team was called to a home where the owner could no longer care for the animals.

Inside that home was 24 dogs. PACC says most of the dogs are medium-sized and nearly all of them are sick.

The success of the adoption event Saturday opened up some kennel space, making room for these 24 dogs. However, PACC is still over capacity.

The 24 new dogs will have to stay at PACC for the investigation, so they are asking for the public's help to reduce the number of dogs that were already in the shelter. They need fosters and adopters.

All dogs and puppies are free to adopt and come spayed/neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.

PACC hours:

  • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
  • Noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
  • 1:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday
