The day brought together pet owners and animal lovers alike to focus on vaccinations, preventative veterinary care and pet adoptions.

Karen Janisch, director of Blue Bundu Brigade, said that information on treating for ticks and fleas was presented to the pet owners by Kayleen Madasamy and the eThekwini District Animal Health and Welfare team.

“Forty-six dogs and eight cats were vaccinated and dewormed,” said Janisch.

Robert Kalytta, with his team from My Pet Microchipping, micro-chipped pets. Kalytta said it is of utmost importance to microchip your pets and ensure the chip is registered and up-to-date.

BBB also had puppies available for adoption and received two applications that day. Janisch said the puppies adored all the attention and playtime with the visitors. Meanwhile, BRK brought in many older dogs and teens through seniors still seeking their forever homes. Those interested in adopting through BRK can contact Amanda Herschel on 071 869 8746.

Even though no funds were raised from the event, Janisch stressed that it was a community-driven event for responsible pet care and adoptions. “It was a busy day with a great atmosphere. A huge thank you to the community support that made this day the success it was,” she said.
