SHREVEPORT, La. — All occupants, including multiple pets, safely escaped a house fire in Shreveport on Memorial Day. The Shreveport Fire Department responded to the blaze in the 1900 block of Nicholson Street around 1:17 p.m.
Firefighters at the scene reported heavy smoke from the front of the single-story residential structure. Twenty-one firefighters brought the fire under control by 1:35 p.m.
No injuries to firefighters were reported. In addition to the residents, several dogs and cats, including newborn kittens, were rescued from the heavily damaged home.
The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the displaced occupants. The SFD Fire Prevention Bureau is investigating the cause of the fire.
