A woman has been seriously injured after her two pet rottweilers attacked her at her home in Success, in Perth’s south, on Saturday afternoon.
In the attack and ensuing police response, one of the dogs was shot.
About 4.35pm, police received reports of a dog attack at a property in Pitta Corner and when they arrived, found two rottweilers attacking a woman inside her home.
Police said due to the extremely aggressive nature of the dogs, and the risk to human life, a firearm was discharged to stop the attack.
“One of the dogs received serious injuries as a result. The second dog was secured in the garage until rangers from the City of Cockburn arrived,” police said in a statement.
“St John Ambulance attended the scene and the 31-year-old woman was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment of serious bite wounds to her arms and legs.”
Rangers seized both dogs and the City of Cockburn will now investigate the incident.
