Pet Connect South Africa and Spaniel Rescue SA hold event to microchip, vaccinate, and deworm Randburg’s pets

Pet owners in Randburg turned up in large numbers for the pet microchip, vaccinate, and deworm event held at Randridge Mall’s undercover parking. Organised by Pet Connect South Africa, in partnership with Spaniel Rescue SA, the event aimed to provide essential pet healthcare at affordable prices.

Throughout the day, residents brought their pets for microchipping at R150, vaccinations at R250, and deworming at just R30. Free nail clipping was also available, along with a variety of pet products for sale.

Amanda Robinson, founder of Spaniel Rescue SA, emphasised the importance of educating pet owners. “The idea is to educate the pet owners before we are forced to go in and confiscate the pets. We are hoping that everything we teach here will be passed on, and they will teach their neighbours, and their neighbours’ neighbours,” she said.

Vanessa Fitzpatrick, founder of Pet Connect South Africa, was thrilled with the turnout. “I only slept for three hours, but it was all worth it because it’s really great to see so many caring pet owners. Microchipping helps keep pets safe, and we’ve helped many today.”

FLEA’s Pet Products, run by Felicity Purdon, offered high-quality pet care items, including interactive snuffle balls and mats. Meanwhile, Tales of Tails handled all microchipping, vaccinations, and deworming services, ensuring that pets received proper healthcare.

Pet owners were required to keep dogs on leads and cats in carry boxes, with volunteers on hand to assist restless animals.

By the end of the event, 53 pets had been microchipped, 160 vaccinated, 180 dewormed, and 205 had their nails clipped.

The initiative was a resounding success, with many pet owners expressing gratitude for the accessible and affordable healthcare services for their beloved animals.
