A Gurgaon couple’s holiday to Agra along with their 10-year-old Indie dog turned into a nightmare after their pet went missing from the five-star hotel where they were staying. The couple, Dipayan Ghosh and Kasturi, has now announced a reward of Rs 30,000 for anyone who can find ‘Greyhound’.
Dipayan said they arrived in Agra on Friday and had been staying at the hotel. “On Sunday, we planned a trip to Fatehpur Sikri and decided to leave Greyhound at the hotel’s pet-sitting area. But around 9.30 am, hours after we had left, the hotel staff called us to say our dog had fled,” he told The Indian Express.
“We were informed that Greyhound was last seen at the Taj Mahal Metro station at 12.30 pm on Tuesday. My wife and I started searching for our dog. We showed photos to local residents but to no avail,” he added.
The couple recollected why they named the dog ‘Greyhound’ — it has black patches on its face, and its fur coated in shades of various browns and greys. “We got Greyhound when it was a month old. It’s been 10 years now, I cannot explain my attachment,” said Dipayan.
Issuing an appeal for help, he said: “If anyone sees Greyhound, please contact us on our mobile number 7838899124, or at the Taj Suraksha police station. The person who brings back our dog will be rewarded with Rs 30,000.”
Agra Assistant Commissioner of Police Syed Areeb Ahmad said after the couple filed a complaint, a police team, along with officials from the traffic police, was deployed to find the missing dog. “We have scanned CCTV footage, but the area is surrounded by a forest and there are no CCTV cameras in those areas,” he said.
The ACP added that the couple trusted the hotel and they were the victims here. “We are trying to do whatever we can,” he said.
