Noida: A man was allegedly thrashed in Greater Noida’s Ecovillage 1 after he told a pet owner not to walk her Rottweilers — considered to be a ferocious breed —without a muzzle on Sunday.
A video, recorded by another resident of the condominium on his phone, is being widely circulated on social media where both parties could be seen dialling the cops. An FIR was later registered against the woman and her husband.
The complainant, Vijay Tiwari, claimed he and his kids were going on an errand around 4 pm. “As I got down from the lift at the basement, I found the pet owner and her dog standing at its entrance. The dog wasn’t muzzled, and I politely pointed it out to the woman,” Tiwari said.
In no time, the two got into a heated argument. Tiwari claimed the woman’s husband also grabbed his hand and tried to grapple with him when he tried to click the dog’s photo.
He claimed the couple approached the police on Sunday. On return, they again confronted Tiwari and the woman allegedly slapped him multiple times. Several people from society gathered at the scene and recorded a video.
“I submitted a complaint against the woman when the couple tried to accuse him of abusing the woman,” Tiwari claimed. He adding that despite requests earlier, the pet owners had refused to muzzle the dog.
Bisrakh SHO said they have registered an FIR against Tarun Raj and his wife, who are tenants at Ecovillage 1, under IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace).
Conflicts between residents and animal lovers have been reported frequently in NCR, especially in gated societies, with a section of people claiming that children and the elderly were vulnerable to dogs and strays.
On January 3, a German Shepherd attacked a house help in Gaur City-2, leading to her hospitalization.
