A brutal attack on two sisters and their dogs in Ghaziabad has sparked outrage. Poonam and Puja were out with their dogs, Taru and Buzzo, when a minor dispute with neighbours led to a violent attack. The argument began over walking pet dogs on the lane outside.
When the sisters returned home, they thought the matter was over. However, the neighbours knocked on their door, and an argument ensued as soon as they opened the gate. The dispute escalated, leading the neighbours to attack the sisters with a knife inside their home.
When the family’s dogs tried to defend their owners, the attackers turned on them, wounding Taru and Buzzo with the knife.Â
The injured dogs are currently undergoing treatment for their severe injuries.
The police have filed a case and arrested one of the accused. However, the maximum penalty under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, is only Rs 50.
Between 2010-2020, about 1,000 Â animal assaults were documented, including 82 cases of sexual abuse, 266 cases of cold-blooded murder, and over 400 cases of violent attacks involving beating, acid throwing, boiling water throwing, and knife attacks.
This shocking incident highlights the need for stricter laws to protect animals from violence. What do you think?
