HDFC ERGO has unveiled the Paws and Claws insurance programme to cater to your pet’s diagnostic needs and covers their veterinary costs. The insurance plan covers diagnostics, injury, surgery, third party liability, as well as trip cancellations.

New Delhi: HDFC ERGO General Insurance recently rolled out the Paws N Claws insurance programme designed to address the health emergency needs of your dear pets ahead of World Pets Day which is celebrated on April 11, 2024. The insurance plan covers both cats and dogs. It aims to capitalise on the 13 per cent average annual growth witnessed in the pet care sector. This industry is envisaged to achieve $800 million valuation by 2025.
The insurance plan is aimed at safeguarding your pet’s health with an eye on easing the burden of rising veterinary expenses on the pet parent.
Comprehensive protection for pets
The HDFC ERGO Paws N Claws insurance cover offers thorough pet protection including diagnostics and treatment. The insurer allows pet parents to choose their preferred plan and customise the cover based on their pet’s needs.
With increasing pet-related incidents being reported across the country, HDFC ERGO Paws N Claws also offers third-party liability cover up to Rs 1 crore for pet caused:
- Bodily injury
- Property damage
HDFC ERGO offers optional covers for:
- Veterinary audio consultations
- Vet video consultations
- Pet funeral expenses
- Pet illness
- Pet injury
- Pet surgery
Up to 5 pets can be covered in a single policy, which is extendable to 10 pets for commercial breeders. HDFC ERGO also offers an OPD cover and trip cancellation coverage — under the latter pet parents may be reimbursed financially for any trip cancellation made on account of their pet.
How to enrol for Paws n Claws
Pet parents may enrol for Paws N Claws using the HDFC ERGO here app, for which they only require the pet’s photo. The app also allows pet parents the option to reach out to vets and other pet parents, according to Parthanil Ghosh, President – Retail Business, HDFC ERGO General Insurance.
The minimum entry age for the pet insurance plan is when the cat or dog is 6 months old and the maximum age limit is 5 years. The insurance plan can be renewed for a maximum age of 7 years. Refer below for more details:
