On Monday, a woman showed up at the shelter holding her newspaper, looking for last week’s Pet of the Week, Orchid.
Word spread quickly through the puppers in the adoption area that Orchid had indeed hit the big time — she scored a loving home to call her own! Inspired by her example, they all jockeyed for position to be the next lucky dog to be featured.
Alphie was so surprised and happy when he got the nod.
Alphie, who is between 2-3 years old, has the classic look of a German Shepherd, complete with that noble head. The regal appearance of this handsome shepherd mix is matched by his impeccable manners.
He walks well on a leash and loves to spend time with people. He’s ready to bond with you with that deep loyalty for which GSDs are known.
His only slight imperfection, if you want to call it a flaw, is that he is not a fan of felines. We don’t recommend him for a home that has cats.
Alphie is available at the Carroll County Animal Shelter, located at 251 Automation Drive in Carrollton. The adoption fee of $50 covers spay/neuter surgery; vaccinations for rabies, parvo/distemper, and bordetella (kennel cough); heartworm test; deworming; and microchip.
The shelter’s hours of operation are Monday through Wednesday 12:30-4:30 p.m.; Thursday 12:30-6 p.m.; Friday 12:30-4:30 p.m.; and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call the shelter at 770-214-3590.
