FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) – What has one brown eye, one blue eye and a tail that never stops wagging? An Australian Shepherd named Sitka!
Sitka is a 14-year-old spayed female Australian Shepherd mix who has been at the Fairbanks Animal Shelter since May 24. Despite being on the senior side, this golden girl is full of pep and in great health, and eager to make new friends.
Staff say that Sitka has been an absolute delight at the shelter, and her previous owners said that she gets along wonderfully with people of all ages including babies and small children. She loves going on walks and rides well in cars, and is completely house trained.
She can take a while to warm up to other dogs, and has never been around cats or other small animals. As always please make sure you are doing slow, safe introductions with all new friends.
The shelter vet says Sitka is in great physical shape for her age, though she could stand to lose a few pounds and keep an eye on her dental health. Her hearing may no longer be top notch. Sitka will be going home with a glucosamine supplement for her joints that was donated by a community member.
If you are interested in meeting Sitka or any of her friends at the Fairbanks Animal Shelter, please call them at (907) 459-1451.
