INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Free Parvo vaccinations will be offered at the Vet Tech Institute of Indiana on May 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to help prevent the spread of the deadly disease among dogs.
Parvo is a highly contagious and deadly virus that attacks the heart muscle and gastrointestinal tract of dogs. Lucky Dog Rescue has treated 48 Parvo-positive dogs since its founding in 2009, with ten not surviving, highlighting the importance of vaccination.
“Parvo is very nasty and the vaccinations certainly help,” Mattie Thacker, from Lucky Dog Rescue, said.
The event will also offer free microchipping for pets, which is required in Marion County starting this year due to a new ordinance aimed at reducing stray and lost animals.
There is no limit on the number of animals you can bring, and attendees are encouraged to bring a positive attitude and excitement to get their pets vaccinated.
