SUSANVILLE, Calif. — A Susanville family is grappling with the loss of their home and cherished possessions after a devastating house fire on Friday.
Among the irreplaceable items lost were family heirlooms and Coco, the family's beloved 29-year-old parrot. The family's dog, Gauge, survived the ordeal after hiding for three hours before being rescued by a firefighter.
The couple, who have been married for nearly 30 years, also had to cancel their anniversary trip after losing all their camping gear and savings in the fire.
The family's daughter, Elizabeth Moberg, has launched a verified GoFundMe campaign to assist with housing, medications, memorial costs for Coco, and care for Gauge.
The family expressed gratitude for their safety but acknowledged the overwhelming emotional and physical toll of the incident. You can support the Moberg family's recovery fundraiser here.
