A pet spay and neuter clinic will be headed for Sinajana from Nov. 7 to 10, and Mayor Robert Hofmann is urging residents to avail of the opportunity to better care for their cats and dogs.

A fourth day for the clinic has just been added because of a great response from the community, the mayor said on Tuesday.

Surgeries will be by appointment only and cost $50. Those on public assistance programs can avail of this program free of charge, the mayor said.

A pet spay and neuter clinic under the Spay and Neuter Island Pets, or SNIP, Program, will be held in Sinajana on Nov. 7 to 10. The fourth day has just been added because of great response from the community, the mayor said. Those who are interested in signing their pets up for surgery may do so at www.snipclinicguam.com.

Guam Department of Agriculture

This is the fifth community service event for the Spay and Neuter Island Pets, or SNIP, Program, which is a collaboration between the Guam Department of Agriculture and Guam Animals In Need, or GAIN.

The Sinajana mayor’s office will host the SNIP community event.

This community clinic will feature SNIP’s two high quality, high volume spay neuter surgeons, Dr. Mariana Turner and Dr. Brenda Smith, according to a press release from the Department of Agriculture.

Turner, the Department of Agriculture’s territorial veterinarian, said the SNIP program is delivering on the promise of quarterly community-based low-cost spay and neuter clinics.

“By bringing these clinics directly into communities in need of our services, we can encourage all community members to be responsible pet owners and reduce the number of unwanted litters of puppies and kittens that roam the streets,” Turner said.

Dogs and cats are welcome at this event and residents are encouraged to bring their own carrier for housing of their pet.

Rabies vaccinations and Elizabethan collars, or cones, will also be available for an additional cost.

Residents who receive SNAP benefits qualify for the SPPC surgery sponsorship program to cover the cost of the surgery, according to the press release. Residents simply present their SNAP/EBT card at registration, it added.

Members of the public who are interested in signing their pets up for surgery may do so at www.snipclinicguam.com.

Appointments must be made under the owner’s information.

For assistance with appointment scheduling, email snip@guamaniamls.org, or call/Whatsapp (671) 988-9421 Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Those interested in volunteering my also sign up at www.snipclinicguam.com/volunteer. Volunteers should have a minimum of one day experience with SNIP prior to signing up for the community clinic.
