JACKSON, MI — The Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption.
Here are two of them.
Copper is a 1-year-old male American Staffordshire mix that came in as a stray.
He is on the smaller side at 38 pounds. Slowly, his hair coat is improving, as he had some hair loss upon arrival to the shelter.
Copper gets along with other dogs and likes to play. He knows a few basic commands and likes to go for walks on the leash. This young guy comes out of the kennel excited with his tail wagging. He is tolerant of cats and takes treats nicely.
General is a 3-year-old orange and white domestic shorthair cat that came in as a stray.
He is a friendly, mellow kind of guy. General gets along with the other cats where he is housed.
He currently has a little scab on his pink nose that is healing. General enjoys a good nap and would be an excellent lap warmer.
Dog adoptions require an application, online. A meet-and-greet with a dog also is mandatory. A cat room walk-through is available to test reaction. The dog adoption fee is $150 for medium and large dogs and $250 for puppies and small dogs, which includes vaccinations, microchip and sterilization.
Cat adoption fees are $60 for one cat, $80 for two, which includes applicable tests, vaccinations and spay/neutering.
