Pets of the Week: Meet Ruby and Storym – Brainerd Dispatch

Ruby came to the shelter as a stray, so we don't know much about where she came from. She has slowly warmed up to staff and loves to go on walks. Being outside seems to get her out of her shell and her tail wagging. She has shown a lot of interest in the other dogs, so getting her in playgroup has started to build her confidence. She would love to be adopted into a home with another dog. She doesn’t pay any mind to the office cat, so would do fine in a home with cats. Ruby is currently in foster, and the foster reports she is doing great. She spends most of her time napping in the dog bed and has been overall an easy dog to handle. If you're looking for a quiet companion to keep you company, Ruby would be a good fit for you.

Stormy is a young and curious cat. Toys and play attract her attention. Other cats are just fine with her. She can be independent, but she also loves attention. Stormy is beautiful and has the softest fur. The question is, “Why is Stormy still at Paws & Claws?” Stormy needs a home to call her own with a human that she can play with.

Adopting from Paws + Claws

Those interested in adopting Ruby or Stormy should call Paws + Claws at 218-675-7297 to set up an appointment. A $25 hold can be placed on an animal over the phone.

Donations and adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, micro-chipping, vaccinating, deworming, any medical procedures and general care.

Paws + Claws is located at 2949 Highway 371, Hackensack.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.

Hi, I'm the Brainerd Dispatch. I started working a few days before Christmas in 1881 and became a daily paper two years later. I've gone through a lot of changes over the years, but what has never changed is my commitment to community and to local journalism. I've got an entire team of dedicated people who work night and day to make sure I go out every morning, whether in print, as an e-edition, via an app or with additional information at www.brainerddispatch.com. News, weather, sports — videos, photos, podcasts and social media — all covering stories from central Minnesota about your neighbors, your lakes, your communities, your challenges and your opportunities. It's all part of the effort to keep people connected and informed. And we couldn't do it without support.
