JACKSON, MI – Nelly and Cadillac are just two of the many pets at Cascades Humane Society that are looking for loving forever homes.
Nelly is a delightful 4-year-old, pocket-sized companion weighing in at under 30 pounds. Affectionately nicknamed Miss Piggy for her adorable pig-like noises, she exudes a touch of diva charm.
While she may prefer to be the sole canine resident, Nelly does enjoy playdates with other dogs. Nelly’s playful spirit shines through when engaging with tennis balls, showcasing her love for tug-of-war, fetch and a good wrestling match.
Despite her diva tendencies, Nelly has experience with kids and is incredibly sweet with people. Expect wiggles, licks and hugs when she receives attention. This well-behaved canine also knows the commands “sit,” “down,” “stay” and “come.”
Nelly is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and has tested negative for heartworm.
Charming Cadillac is ready to bring a touch of luxury to your home. Initially a bit reserved, she’ll take her time to acquaint herself, gently sniffing your hand. As you begin to pet her, you’ll notice the soft hum of her purring. Gradually warming up to your attention, she’ll express her affection by rubbing her head against your hands, with her purr intensifying.
Cadillac especially enjoys gentle ear rubs and some attention to the spot just behind her ears. Although not very playful at the moment, at just 7 months old, CHS staff anticipates that, once settled in a new environment, she’ll embrace the sights, sounds and smells of her new home and become more playful.
Cadillac is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped.
If you think Nelly or Cadillac could be your next perfect, furry family member (or members), then please stop in for a visit. Cascades Humane Society, 1515 Carmen Drive, is open noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
All dogs and cats at Cascade Humane Society have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and given parasite protection prior to adoption. Those who adopt pets also receive a free wellness checkup from any of 24 area veterinarians.
Dog owners wishing to adopt another dog are required to do a meet and greet with their dog and the dog they’re choosing to adopt.
CHS also has added services to its Spay and Neuter Assistance Program. The service, available during scheduled spay or neuter surgeries, includes vaccines, heartworm testing for dogs, FIV and FeLV testing for cats and dental procedures.
CHS also has a Pet Food Pantry to help families going through financial hardship. CHS accepts cat or dog food donations, as long as the food is in its original packaging. Donors can drop off food by the pole barn behind the facility. The Pet Food Pantry is open from noon to 2 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month.
Those considering adopting Nelly, Cadillac or another pet can apply to do so here. Adoptable pets can be viewed at www.chspets.org. For more information, call 517-787-7387.
