JACKSON, MI — The Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption.
Here are two of them.
Sloan is an 8-year-old Chihuahua mix, that came in as a stray.
Sloan is a little guy at just 8 pounds. He is a little bewildered as to how he ended up at the shelter. But he is making new friends and becoming less nervous.
Sloan loves to go outside on the leash. He has the cutest little hippity hop as he prances through the grass. Sloan enjoys being petted, getting treats and is house trained.
Sailor Moon is a 5-year-old, mostly black male cat that came in as a stray. He has a dab of white on his chest and big gold eyes.
Sailor is still a bit nervous about being at the shelter. He is a fan of treats and being petted. It will just take a bit of patience to win over this sleek boy.
Sailor is on the smaller size at just 6 pounds. Black cats are considered lucky in many cultures.
Dog adoptions require an application, online. A meet-and-greet with a dog also is mandatory. A cat room walk-through is available to test reaction. The dog adoption fee is $150 for medium and large dogs and $250 for puppies and small dogs, which includes vaccinations, microchip and sterilization.
Cat adoption fees are $60 for one cat, $80 for two, which includes applicable tests, vaccinations and spay/neutering.
