Children and dogs are invited to make noise during an outdoor movie event planned for Saturday, May 18, at Magnolia Park, 651 W. 15th St., Upland.
Second Chance Productions, in partnership with the Friends of Upland Animal Shelter, is hosting the family-friendly event featuring a screening of its upcoming animated film “Gracie & Pedro: Pets to the Rescue.”
In the event, billed as a “Rocky Horror Picture Show” for kids, actors will perform and engage with the audience in front of a screen where the film is projected. As the live actors perform skits in front of the screen, they will invite children and their dogs to participate by singing, speaking out and playing with noise makers following signals throughout the film, according to a news release.
The event will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with a pet fair and local vendors. Local entertainment will start at 7 p.m., and the screening will begin at 8 p.m.
Families are encouraged to bring their dogs to the outdoor event, and Second Chance Productions hopes to break the record for the most dogs at a movie screening, according to the news release.
“Gracie & Pedro: Pets to the Rescue” tells the story of a show dog and an alley cat who go on an adventure to find their family after getting separated during a cross-country move. The film, rated PG, stars Bill Nighy, Susan Sarandon, Brooke Shields, Alicia Silverstone, Al Franken and Danny Trejo.
The film will have its theatrical release later this year.
Tickets for the Upland event start at $7.99 and are available at friendsofuplandanimalshelter.org. Proceeds will go to the Friends of Upland Animal Shelter.
