MADISON, Wis. — Public Health Madison & Dane County asked for information Friday on a dog that they said attacked and killed another dog in downtown Madison last week.
PHMDC said the attack occurred just before 1 p.m. on Aug. 30 in the 1000 block of Rutledge Street. A stray dog entered a yard, attacked a smaller dog then left in an unknown direction.
The attacking dog is described as a brown, short-haired and medium-sized. It appeared to be a mixed breed. either a Doberman or Pit Bull, with white on its chest. It was wearing a collar without tags.
Anyone with information on the dog is urged to contact 608-255-2345 and ask to speak to an Animal Services Officer.
PHMDC reminded dog owners to shorten the leash while on walks, and leave appropriate space between your dog and others passing by. Teach children how to properly interact with pets, and don't use your arms or legs to break up a dog fight.
If you or your pet is involved in a bite situation, treat it like a car cash and exchange contact information with the other person involved.
