An animal shelter in Petersburg, Indiana, needs your help feeding some hungry dogs awaiting homes.
While on my way home from work last week, I received an interesting call from my wife. She was in the house, settling in for the evening, when she heard what could only be described as faint squeaks from our front porch. Upon opening the door, we found a very small kitten clinging to life. It looked as if it had been in an altercation with another animal. Upon further investigation, the poor thing was infested with fleas and ear mites while also dealing with a double eye infection, along with an injury to its left foot. After eight days of giving the little fighter formula and medication, I'm happy to say it's up, moving, and playing as a kitten should.

The experience has given me a newfound appreciation for what animal shelters deal with on a daily basis, especially considering they are handling multiple cases at a time. It's no secret that animal shelters nationwide are experiencing a surge in residents, and they need our help now more than ever. One such shelter is located in Petersburg, Indiana, and currently has a need for dry dog food. The Pike Animal Welfare Shelter (P.A.W.S.)Â has an Amazon Wish List, where folks can purchase items and have them sent directly to the shelter. In addition to dry dog food, the list also features cat food, cat litter, dog ear cleaning wipes, dog treats, and more.
While shopping for pet supplies for the shelter, I highly recommend stopping by to meet some of the residents. You might just come face-to-face with the next member of your family. The Pike Animal Welfare Shelter is located at 4224 N Meridian Rd. in Petersburg, Indiana. You can learn more about the organization and stay up-to-date on their latest happenings here.
