Plant-based dog wellness company launches into Pets at Home

BOREHAMWOOD, ENGLAND — HOWND®, a cruelty-free, plant-based dog wellness company, announced the launch of its vet-approved, complete-and-balanced Superfood dog nutrition range into Pets at Home retail stores and website. HOWND’s Superfood range includes wet and dry diets, specifically developed for dogs with food intolerances and sensitive stomachs.

Founded in 2015, HOWND strives to use the power of plants to help improve the health and wellness of dogs. The company leverages plant-based ingredients to develop hypoallergenic, complete-and-balanced dry and wet diets. Since its launch, HOWND has evolved from plant-based nutrition to become an ethical “lifestyle” brand for dogs throughout the United Kingdom and around the world, according to the company.

“We’re delighted to have HOWND Superfood listed in Pets at Home as a healthy, alternative diet,” said Jo Amit, product director at HOWND. “For the last ten years we’ve evolved as a plant-based wellness and nutrition brand for UK’s health-conscious dog parents, and this is a tremendous milestone for us. We can’t wait for pet parents to see the happiness it brings to their furry friends’ mealtimes, whilst keeping them in optimal health and good shape.”

HOWND’s Superfood line offers diets that are high in protein, low in fat and purines, and free from soy, wheat, GMOs and animal-derived ingredients. All the recipes are plant-based and formulated with pumpkin to support digestion and ensure palatability, pre- and probiotics and marine algae to provide a sustainable source of Omega fatty acids, and cranberries and blueberries to support urinary tract health. The recipes also include phytodroitin, a cruelty-free alternative to chondroitin made from a blend of seaweed extract, to support joints and mobility.

The line includes four recipes: one dry — Delicious Pumpkin Quinoa & Moringa Dry Superfood — and three wet — Hearty Quinoa & Pumkin Casserole, Fresh Blueberry & Coconut Porridge with Chia & Moringa, and Fragrant Papaya Chai & Lentil Dahl with Coconut & Moringa. The dry diet is available in 2-kg (about 4-lb) and 10-kg (around 22-lb) fully recyclable bags, and the wet diets are available in 400-gram (about 14-oz) cans.
