Police catch loose dog and track deer hunters: Russell Township police blotter

RUSSELL TOWNSHIP, Ohio —

Animal at large, Chillicothe Road:

While on patrol an officer encountered a dog running in the middle of the busy road 4:45 p.m. Oct. 19 followed by an elderly woman trying to catch it. The officer was able to capture the pet and return him to the owner.

Weapons complaint, Riddle Road:

Police were dispatched near a resident’s home for a weapons offense 3:53 p.m. Oct. 28. The complainant reported hearing a gunshot in a wooded area behind his house. An officer advised him that it was hunting season. Police checked the area for the source of the gunshot, but, they did not find the subjects.

Assistance, Kinsman Road:

An officer assisted a man in acquiring a carcass tag 10:32 a.m. Oct. 31 for a deer killed in a vehicle crash that occurred earlier in the morning near Watt Road. The tag was completed, and the man retrieved the deer.

Assistance, Hemlock Point:

Police responded with EMS to a home 7:23 p.m. Oct. 26 for twin boys who were having an allergic reaction. Both were transported to a hospital for treatment at the parents’ request.

Found property, Chillicothe Road:

An officer was dispatched 5:45 p.m. Oct. 20 to a gas station where someone had left a driver’s license. Police contacted the license owner and it was retrieved later at the police station.

Mutual aid, Mayfield Road:

Russell Township officers were dispatched along with other area departments, 2:08 p.m. Oct. 30 to help Chester Township police with a burglary in process and one suspect running from the scene. Officers checked the area and helped identify multiple subjects related to the incident.

Theft, West River Drive:

A resident reported 5:16 p.m. Oct. 30 that items were stolen from a shipment delivered to the home.
