Police investigating deaths of four cats in Spetses

File photo.

Police on the island of Spetses, in southern Greece, is investigating the deaths of four stray cats in the area of Agios Eleftherios on Saturday.

The inquiry was launched after a local resident found the bodies of the animals last Friday morning and alerted the police. The bodies were taken to a veterinary clinic and authorities ordered a series of tests to determine the cause of death.

A case has been filed for violation of pet welfare legislation, while police is investigating if more similar complaints have recently been submitted to the local municipal authority.
