Police have been forced to shoot and kill a dog in the carpark of a popular Perth beach.
The horrible incident unfolded after police were called to the carpark of Trigg Beach about 7pm on Tuesday to do a welfare check.
They found a woman, who was with a dog, and she down a beach track.
Police said the dog became aggressive towards them, so they used their capsicum spray on it and proceeded to arrest the woman.
However, during the arrest the dog attacked two smaller canines that were walking with their owner nearby.
It forced officers to shoot dead the attacking animal.
One of the smaller dogs suffered serious injuries and was taken to the vet for emergency medical assistance.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing.
