Police Chief Jason Mangrum reported his department and the Animal Control Officer to catch the dangerous dogs.
WATER VALLEY – An elusive pack of wild dogs in the city have become a menace, killing at least two pets. Water Valley Police Chief Jason Mangrum reported police officers and the city’s animal control officer have been actively trying the catch the dogs for over a month. The chief reported the dogs typically vanish as soon as officers encounter them. The dogs have been spotted all across the city.
“They are very skittish and usually hit the woods,” the chief said. “It appears to be five of them and it has been a priority for the department to catch them for over a month,” Mangrum said.
Water Valley Mayor Tommy Reynolds reported the city has several traps set in strategic areas.
“We have used our trap, borrowed traps from Second Chance Animal Alliance and have ordered more traps,” Reynolds said. “Everybody is working together to try and remedy this problem.”
Mangrum asks anyone who spot the dogs to contact his department.
“If you see them, call us immediately. We don’t need to be 30 minutes behind them,” the chief said.
To report a sighting of the dogs, contact the department’s non-emergency number at (662) 473-2722. If there a threat from the dogs, call 911.
