The District of Saanich is re-opening three pop-up dog parks this year, starting in April.
The pop-up dog parks are coming to Hyacinth Park, Rudd Park and Lambrick Park.
The fully-fenced off dog parks are located in the same areas within the parks where they were set up last year. Lambrick Park will also include two sections, one for small dogs and one for big dogs.
Besides being fully fenced, each pop-up dog park will also have water bowls, benches, and trees for shade “where possible.”

“Having pop-ups in our parks has helped us learn how to build these facilities,” said the district in a release Friday.
“These temporary enclosures will be discontinued as they are replaced by permanent fenced leash-optional areas in upcoming years.”
The pop-up dog parks will open in the first week of April and remain open until the last week of October.
The district notes that baseball season runs from March 1 to Oct. 31, so dog owners are asked to keep their dogs out of baseball fields and fenced diamonds during this time.
The pop-up dog parks are part of Saanich’s “People, Pets and Parks Strategy,” which looks to overhaul the municipality’s pet bylaws and measures.
