Pune: Youth Caught On CCTV Sexually Abusing Pet Dog; Arrested

Handewadi, 12th April 2025: A disturbing case has emerged from Handewadi, Pune, where a 20-year-old youth was arrested for allegedly engaging in unnatural sexual acts with a pet dog. The incident came to light after the dog’s owner, who had been away in his native village, was informed by a neighbour that his Labrador had been crying for two days.

Upon reviewing the CCTV footage remotely, the owner was shocked to see the accused breaking into the premises and leading the dog away from the camera’s view.

The dog owner, a 41-year-old man employed as a sales manager and currently working from home, had gone to his native place, leaving his pet Labrador in the parking area of his housing society. Before leaving, he had arranged for neighbours to feed and care for the dog.

Three days into his trip, a concerned neighbour called to report that the dog had been crying continuously for two days. Alarmed, the owner accessed the CCTV footage of his home through his mobile phone. The video showed a young man from a nearby factory breaking the metal grill around 11:30 pm and entering the parking area. He was seen playing with the dog and then coaxing it out of the camera’s range.

On returning to Pune, the owner confronted the young man, who allegedly confessed to committing unnatural acts with the dog. A formal complaint was filed at the Kalepadal Police Station, following which the youth, a resident of a neighbouring society, was taken into custody.

Assistant Police Inspector Ratnadeep Gaikwad is leading the investigation into the case.
