SOUTH BRUNSWICK – A skunk found in the vicinity of Wheeler Road has tested positive for rabies, township police said.
The skunk is the first rabid animal reported in township this year.
On Jan. 13, a resident’s dogs were in a scuffle with the skunk, police said.
The skunk was retrieved by Animal Control and taken to the New Jersey Department of Health Laboratory for testing.
Township officials learned Wednesday that the skunk had tested positive for rabies.
Residents should report wild animals showing signs of unusual behavior to the police department.
